Genuine praise is our holistic learning strategy. We strive to move away from what we call “candy floss” praise as it refers to overly general, non-specific compliments that, although positive in tone, fail to provide children with a clear understanding of what actions or behaviours they are being praised for. It’s like offering a sweet treat that tastes good momentarily but lacks nutritional value—pleasant to hear but not beneficial for promoting specific learning or growth.  Instead, we encourage parents and educators to offer meaningful, constructive feedback that children can grasp and learn from.

The Essence of Genuine Praise

In line with our Montessori approach and child-centric education philosophy, Podar Prep emphasises the importance of specific and genuine praise. When a child receives feedback that is clear and focused—such as appreciating the careful choice of colours in a drawing or the thoughtful decision to avoid a potentially harmful situation—they gain a deeper understanding of their actions and the positive outcomes they can lead to.
